Civil & Environmental Engineering Faculty Position in Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics- Assistant, Associate or Full Professor

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Houston invites applications for one faculty position at the tenured Associate/Full professor or tenure track Assistant professor in the field of structural engineering and structural mechanics. Candidates with research interests in computation, modeling, and/or experimentation, as well as with multi-disciplinary research directions are encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to demonstrate nationally and internationally recognized scholarly activities with a strong potential of having externally funded research. The candidates must also demonstrate a commitment towards teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or in a closely related field at the time of appointment. Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an internationally recognized, cross-disciplinary research program, and to be able to complement and collaborate with the current faculty in the Department, College, and University.

University and Department: The University of Houston is located in a park-like campus a few minutes from downtown Houston with over 37,000 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students. The CEE department currently has 20 tenured or tenure-track faculty members with over 260 undergraduates, and over 130 graduate students. Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. with over 6.6 million in population in the greater Houston area. It is the “energy capital of the world” and houses the largest medical center in the world. The greater Houston area offers state-of-the-art recreational facilities, world-class arts and cultural activities, excellent schools, and affordable housing.
