Advising Guide

The Department places a high priority on undergraduate advising. The Director of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program has prepared an Advising Guide that contains important information from the University, College, and Department.  The official degree plan for the BS in Civil Engineering is presented in the UH Undergraduate Catalog.  Civil engineering students cannot register for classes until after they have been advised each semester.  Current students should email civil [at] egr [dot] uh [dot] edu to schedule an appointment for advising.

Prospective transfer students and UH students who want to be admitted to the College of Engineering must first attend an Engineering Transitional Information Session to obtain information about admissions and coursework required for prospective engineering students.  After prospective transfer and major change students have attended an information session, if they have questions specific to civil engineering that were not addressed they should email civil [at] egr [dot] uh [dot] edu to schedule an appointment for advising.

The current BS in Civil Engineering Degree Plan includes four civil engineering (CIVE) technical electives.  Students are allowed to take an approved out-of-department course to substitute for one of these CIVE electives.  The Director of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program maintains a list of approved out-of-department CIVE elective substitutes.
